Guardian Program

Child with a labradoodle puppy

What is it? A great experience!

Our Guardian Program makes sure our breeding dogs get the love, comfort, and one-on-one attention they deserve, instead of living their lives in a kennel. Our dogs live with wonderful families who treat them like beloved pets, and they come back to us when it's time for breeding.

Being a guardian family means you get to be part of the breeding journey (without all the work!) and share in the excitement of watching the puppies grow—and they grow so fast during their eight weeks with us! We encourage our guardian families to visit often once the puppies are about three weeks old. There's nothing sweeter than puppy cuddles and playtime—it’s pure joy and a little slice of heaven for everyone!

How long are they away?

Our girls come to stay with us about a week before their due date. This gives them time to be spoiled and loved just like our own dogs, and ensures they settle comfortably into our household routine before the big event.

Once the puppies are born, mum will stay with us until the puppies are around five to six weeks old. By this stage, most mums are naturally ready for a break — they begin spending more and more time away from their little darlings and are happy to return to their loving guardian homes. Each mum typically has two or three litters over a period of five years.

While mum is with us, her guardian family is welcome to visit as often as they like to spend time with her and enjoy being part of the puppies' early lives. Some guardians even take the opportunity for a holiday while their girl is in our care!

As for our boys, they are only needed for a few days to perform their duties before returning home.

Legal stuff

The cost of a Guardian dog is a fraction of the standard puppy price.

A formal agreement between Aamberdell Labradoodles and the Guardian remains in place until the dog reaches five years of age (note: for females, the first year is considered an inactive period to allow for full maturity). Once the agreement concludes, the dog is retired and may be de-sexed. Full ownership is then transferred to the Guardian.

By that time, we hope you’ll be eager to welcome another Aamberdell Doodle into your family!

Do you qualify?

To qualify, you must reside on or near the Gold Coast. For the right guardian, exceptions may be made for Brisbane and Sunshine Coast residents, provided they are willing to transport the dog to our specialist vet in Stafford, Brisbane, as required.

Our breeding girls and boys

The photos in the gallery below are indicative of the lives we intend our breeding girls and boys to have.  We are so appreciative of the love, care and adventure they are given by their families. The photo on the left is Aamberdell Amara (Daisy) out enjoying her life.
